Example – points for investment funds
As an example of points that a person may claim for investment funds under the General (Active) Migrant category, let’s consider a migrant who has total funds and assets equivalent to NZ$7 million.
NZ$1 million is available for settlement funds, so she has NZ$6 million as potential investment funds. She decides to bring NZ$4 million to New Zealand as investment funds, and invest NZ$2 million of those funds in active investments in New Zealand.
She may claim a total of 78 bonus points for investment funds:
- 70 points for investment funds of NZ$4 million
- Another 8 points for the active investment of NZ$2 million.
