The Long Term Business Visa
To get a Long Term Business Visa, you’ll need to show the Immigration Service that you have a worthwhile New Zealand business plan. They’ll be particularly interested in seeing:
* An outline of your proposed business.
* Evidence of its viability.
* Realistic financial forecasts.
* Where the money will come from.
* Evidence of your business experience.
* How thoroughly you have researched the market.
* Evidence that you have enough money to live on in addition to the money you need to fund your business.
Converting The Long Term Business Visa to Permanent Residence
Once you’ve got a Long Term Business Visa, you’ll need to run your business here successfully for a couple of years to get residence in the Entrepreneur Category. Before permanent residence is granted, you’ll need to satisfy the Immigration Service that you:
* Have a minimum 25% ownership of a business you’ve either started or purchased.
* Have an active role in managing the business.
The Immigration Service will also need to be convinced that your business has benefited New Zealand’s economy. They may accept evidence that:
* You’ve revitalised an existing business.
* You’ve created new job opportunities. (Self-employment is sufficient.)
* You’ve introduced new products or services.
* You’ve developed new export markets or increased market access.
* You’ve introduced new technology, management or technical skills.
When you have convinced them of this, you’ll be rewarded with permanent residence.
